Scalloping in Homosassa

We had a great day of scalloping up in Homosassa today. I picked at 7:30 in the morning and had a nice peaceful ride down the river, we saw some ospreys and dolphins working some mullet. We got out to the first stop north of the Homosassa river in 3 to 5 feet of water and had half of are limit of scallops in 30 minutes. So we decided to try a few old spots from years past out in the 5 to 7 feet of water and it was like winning the Homosassa Scalloping lottery. As you looked down in the water and you see 20 of them sitting there you start thinking which is going to be the first victim. You dived down and you got 5 or 6 scallops in your hand and putting them in your catch bag and are reaching to grab more before you run out of breath. We had to dump back 5 gallons because we had to much. It will be the first stop in the morning on tomorrows charter. We were back at the dock dropping are scallops off to get cleaned by are good friends on the first dock as you come in at MacRae’s. They are the only ones that i trust.
